This coin is an amazing piece of history, being just 10 years younger than America this coin celebrated its 240th birthday this year.
This coin was minted in 1786 in Munich Germany out of 83.3 percent silver with a standard issue weight of 28.06g and a diameter of 42mm.
The obverse features a bust of Charles Theodore with the reverse showing a beautiful depiction of The Madonna holding an infant Jesus.
The reverse shows heavy damage, it is not natural wear from circulation. Instead at some point in time this coin passed in the hands of somebody who still valued it as currency but disagreed with the religious message being passed on so they disfigured and scratched the depiction of The Madonna to destroy its image. Despite that it is still a beautiful coin with minimal wear and tear aside from the obvious purposeful damage.
